Viewers were astonished last night as they watched the Hairy Bikers catch the giggles after enjoying a marijuana-infused meal.

Dave Myers and Si King enjoyed a three course marijuana-infused meal and drink in LA, during the final episode of Hairy Bikers: Route 66.

The men said they were impressed by the flavours of the meal, but ended up in fits of laughter with Dave barely able to speak.

Many of those watching found the moment hilarious with one tweeting: ‘I never thought I’d see the Hairy Bikers stoned on TV with the giggles!’

They added: ‘Now that was funny, well done to Dave and Si for being good sports.’

Another commented: ‘I am loving #Hairybikers having a dope-laden dinner. They are smiling and stoned.’

The men were seen enjoying a three-course marijuana-infused meal, starting with a Filipino spring roll packed with 5milliograms of CBD – which comes from the cannabis plant but is not psychoactive.

Si said: ‘I’ve never had anything like this before, it’s sweet and savoury.’

Meanwhile Dave said he remembered in his university days people enjoying ‘hash brownies’.

But he confessed he was impressed with how well the food had been cooked.

Dave and Si went on to enjoy a marijuana- based lemonade, as well as pork belly topped with cannabis which added ‘a citrus tone to a hot sauce’.

The chef explained it had around 10millograms of THC, the main psychoactive component on cannabis, and said that it may ‘pack a punch.’

Dave explained: ‘It’s a really vibrant sauce, I’m really enjoying it.’

But as the men attempted to continue discussing the flavours, it appeared Dave could barely speak, with the chef collapsing into floods of giggles.

But the pudding left Dave barely able to speak, saying: ‘It really is so tasty. Oh it’s lovely.’

He said: ‘Well, now I can’t even speak!’

WHAT IS CBD OIL AND IS IT LEGAL IN THE UK?

CBD oil is a legal cannabinoid that can be sold in the UK.

CBD contains less than 0.2 per cent of the psychoactive substance THC.

Although the oil has been thought to have some medicinal properties, including relieving inflammation, pain and anxiety, there is no conclusive science.

Suppliers in England and Wales have to obtain a licence to sell CBD as a medicine.

Manufacturers are able to avoid the strict regulation by selling it as a food supplement – ignoring the lengthy process of gaining a medicinal licence.

CBD products comes in many forms, the most popular being an oil – which users spray under their tongue – or gel tablets which melt slowly in the mouth.

Government advisers at the MHRA found that CBD has a ‘restoring, correcting or modifying’ effect on humans.

Cannabis oil, which is different to CBD oil because it contains THC – the compound that gives users a ‘high’ – is illegal under UK laws.

Billy Caldwell, from Castlederg, Northern Ireland, made headlines last April when he became the first Briton to be prescribed it on the NHS.

Cannabis oil, which reportedly has no side effects, influences the release and uptake of ‘feel good’ chemicals such as dopamine and serotonin.
